Magnificent pair of 19th century Continental silver sauce boats/tureens; in the manner of mid-18th century French examples, these oval, double-lipped tureens sit on detachable oval, shaped stands and are beautifully decorated with swags and monkey faces. Made in Hanau in the late 19th century by George Roth & Co. who specialised in making high quality copies of earlier French silver. Good weight and quality, and finely proportioned.Hanau. c.1895.
