Description

Interesting Geo.III silver toddy ladle. Of Fiddle pattern design, this derivative of Fiddle pattern is fairly unique to Scotland at this period and known as "oar" pattern, it is of fine quality with good clear marks. Particularly interesting is the fact that the maker's mark comprises of just one letter; this mark is registered with the Edinburgh Assay Office (again on a spoon,) but with no record of the maker's name. Great ladle, and of intrigue and interest.
Edinburgh. 1811. Maker, H. (see photograph.)
