19th century silver table/trinket box in the form of a dachshund's head. This fine box is of good, impressive size, finely modelled by one of Hanau's great silversmiths. The detail and modelling are of the highest quality and the interior is finely gilt-washed. A very unusual, charming piece; first class!Hanau (Germany,) c.1895, George Roth & Co.
